Garret Dillahunt is That Guy. When he turns up in a project, you sit up and take notice, because you know that it's going to get even better. Such is the case with FX's Justified, which recruited Garret to play incoming antagonist Ty Walker, raising the tension and adding even more talent in its sixth and last season.

After our chat about his award-nominated comedy work on FOX's Raising Hope, we couldn't help but ask him about returning to the proverbial dark side. Here's what Garret had to tell us Friday about finally joining Justified, and what else this game-raising actor has been up to.

"I was actually lucky that as soon as Raising Hope ended, which everyone was sad about, myself included, I already had a new series on Amazon called Hand of God," he told us. "It was quite meaty and different from Burt. I was already warmed up for Justified in a way."

Hand of God, which premiered last fall and returns later this year, stars Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) as a corrupt judge; Garret portrays KD, described by the network as a "born-again sociopath." From our perspective, it'd seem a perfect middle ground between having played a sitcom patriarch for four years, and getting ready to menace Raylan Givens.

Because Garret may have outdone himself with the character of Ty Walker, the former military operator turned paramilitary leader who's already making things interesting for both Raylan and Boyd Crowder. Walker is undoubtedly a very bad man, but because of who he's played by, we know that he's not going to be a lightweight.

"I think he's a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure," Garret said. "He's a little off his nut. He's not afraid of anybody but he's not taking anyone lightly. A danger on that show - or any show - is when you have an antagonist come in and fall into the cliche of taking everyone too lightly, and we didn't want to do that. And he doesn't."
