Interview on Brennan Elliott by Parade in 2019 - Inscris-toi gratuitement et surfe sans pub !
A staple on Hallmark Channel and its sister network, Hallmark Movie & Mysteries, Brennan Elliott is adept at playing a variety of occupations. In All Summer Long, he plays Jake, a chef who is hired to lead the dinner portion of a dinner cruise. Unbeknownst to him, his ex, Tia (Autumn Reeser) is the captain of the ship. She, too, is surprised to see him as part of the crew. It looks like the oven isn’t the only thing that will be heating up in the kitchen!
In the spirit of the film, Parade.com asked Elliott some food-themed questions, but first…
Tell me something I might not know about your co-star, Autumn Reeser.
Autumn Reeser is a very grounded spiritual person. I admire a lot about her. She has a wonderful and balanced perspective on life and what’s important. I found that inspiring. She’s such a classy lady and we had so much fun working together!
Your character plays a chef working on a boat—would you rather sail a boat or cook dinner on one?
After researching being a chef and how long the hours are and the stressful lifestyle I’d probably sail a boat, but both would be a blast!
Your character makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. What cheese would you put in your ultimate grilled cheese sandwich? What bread?
I love grilled cheese sandwiches, and I’d need block cheddar or pepper jack for some bite! White bread!
What do you consider the most important utensil in your kitchen?
The most important utensil in the kitchen would have to be my microwave! I’m not the cook, my wife is the chef in our family for sure!
What’s the most important spice in a chef’s pantry?
The most important spice for me would be pepper. I like my food to have some bite.
What was the trickiest/most difficult part of playing a chef? Did you have to learn any new skills?
Playing a chef was a lot harder then I thought going in because of the lifestyle they live. No social life, 20-hour work days, they eat a lot of food cause you have to try everything. It’s a stressful and exhausting career choice, but rewarding when something you created on a plate brings such happiness! Food makes us feel good, right?
What’s one dish you cook really well?
I used to make a pretty hearty spaghetti.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten?
Best thing I’ve eaten recently is a gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate banana muffin from gd2go restaurant in North Bay, Ontario. I don’t eat a lot of carbs but it is earth shatteringly good!
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever eaten?
My least favorite food is liver.
What’s your favorite dessert?
Cinnabon.
Do you have a favorite summer cocktail?
A nice cold glass of white wine.
Do you have a favorite vegetable?
Avocados.
Is there a particular fruit you like?
Bananas and peaches.
Do you prefer salty or sweet?
Sweet definitely.
